Italian Baked Stuffed Shells

2 tablespoons Schnucks extra virgin olive oil
4 garlic cloves, crushed with press
1 cup finely chopped yellow onion
1/2 teaspoon Schnucks crushed red pepper flakes
1 pound Schnucks Signature fresh ground salsiccia sausage
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes with basil
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce with basil, garlic and oregano
1 tablespoon Schnucks granulated sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons Schnucks Italian seasoning
1 package (20 ounces) frozen cheese stuffed shells
1 cup Schnucks Italian blend shredded cheese

1. In nonstick 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add garlic, onion and crushed red pepper; cook 5 minutes or until onion is translucent. Add sausage; cook 5 to 7 minutes or until no longer pink, breaking up sausage with side of spoon. Drain excess fat from skillet, if needed.

2. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar and Italian seasoning; stir until combined. Heat to boiling, cover and reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove skillet from heat. Preheat oven to 350°F.

3. Spread 1-1/2 cups meat sauce in the bottom of 3-quart glass or ceramic baking dish; arrange frozen stuffed shells, seam side down, in sauce. Pour 2-1/2 cups meat sauce over shells to completely cover. Reserve remaining sauce for later use.

4. Cover dish with aluminum foil; bake 50 to 55 minutes or until internal temperature of shells reaches 170°F. Remove aluminum foil and top with cheese; bake 6 to 8 minutes longer or until cheese melts. Let stand 6 to 8 minutes before serving.
