1/2 medium orange, sliced
1/4 cup Jim Beam® white label bourbon (2 ounces)
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (1 ounce)
1 tablespoon simple syrup (1/2 ounce)
Reserve 1 orange slice. In rocks glass, muddle remaining orange slices. Add bourbon, lemon juice and simple syrup; stir. Add ice; stir. Garnish glass with reserved orange slice.
Stir a 1:1 ratio of sugar to water in a small saucepan (i.e., 1 cup sugar to 1 cup water). Heat the sugar mixture just to boiling, then reduce the heat and let it simmer until the mixture is clear; do not stir. Cool; transfer to glass container or jar, cover and refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
