One of the great tastes of summer is stone fruit. These are fruits that contain stones or pits such as peaches, plums, nectarines and apricots. Good sources of vitamins A and C, they should feel heavy for their size and yield to gentle pressure. Stone fruit will soften at room temperature, but the sweetness will not increase. That’s why our fruit is handpicked at the peak of ripeness and maturity, which always makes our fruit ready-to-eat.

Stone fruit comes in an array of various colors and flavor profiles. Our premium white flesh peaches and nectarines with their smooth, crisp texture benefit from low acidity and high sugar content to deliver very sweet flavor. Another unique stone fruit found in the summer are pluots, a combination of a plum and an apricot. They bring the best from both varieties and deliver an awesome sweet and juicy eating experience. They come in a variety of shapes and colors with one common attribute: great flavor!

Our approach to stone fruit begins in the panoramic farmlands of California’s fertile San Joaquin Valley. The best varieties of peaches, plums and nectarines are chosen and cultivated based on their ability to provide the flavor experience we knew as kids. The crop is carefully pruned and nurtured to allow the fruit to get maximum sunlight and needed nutrients.

We’re also proud of our commitment to support local farmers and the fantastic flavors they deliver. Depending on where you live, you will find the very best Eckert’s Southern Illinois-grown peaches, or Flippin Farms Tennessee-grown peaches in our stores from mid-July through late August.
